Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Class


Program Overview


NEXT CLASSES:   
September 10th - November 7th
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings
6pm at Ambulance Headquarters

​Additional night and weekend availability is required for clinical observation shifts.

The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course is a 56-hour program designed for anyone  interested in learning more about the emergency response system and in being a first responder.  The primary focus of an EMR is to initiate immediate lifesaving care to critical patients and work alongside higher trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs and Paramedics.  As an EMR, you will possess the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS response.  You will also assist higher level providers on scene and during transport. 

At the conclusion of the program you will be eligible to sit for the state of Connecticut certification written and practical examinations and earn your American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR Certification.

  • Cardiac problems
  • Strokes
  • Seizures
  • Trauma
  • Childbirth emergencies

Program Cost:  $450

Cost Includes:  Course Instruction, Textbook, and Blood Pressure Cuff with Stethoscope and all testing fees
